The importance of a clear marketing message
I read this post today on yahoo — Real-Life Resume Blunders to Avoid. It has some great advice on making sure your resume is error free — VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE!
Remember, when you are engaging in a job search you are actually implementing a marketing campaign. Every representation of you (including your dress, your email address, your spoken words, and your resume/printed marketing materials) tells your potential employer something. For that reason, it is important to present clear and cohesive presence throughout your campaign. This is one place a career coach can best be of assistance.
A career coach can help you prepare (and proof) your marketing campaign to help you find the perfect job for YOU at this time in your life. S/he will help you assess your successes, research career options, and design and implement a comprehensive plan. Seek out a career coach today! It will be time and money well spent.

I definitely think having a career coach is a necessary step in preparing for your job search. S/he will continuously ask why certain things on your resume are or are not important and help you critically analyze your message. Re-reading your own words will never be as valuable an exercise as having someone else point out that a job responsibility, albeit a meaningful one, doesn’t exactly translate into a career accomplishment.
